I wrote this song about my kids. I saw my 8 year old daughter Mackenzie sitting on her bed one day and suddenly had this thought that her and her brother would one day grow up and leave to start their own adventures. Although it freaked me out a little it also made me realise how important it is to make memories now and hold on to each moment.
lyrics
TAKE A PICTURE
Take a picture of this moment
Burn it to your memory
Hold it close just like a lover
Then let it go and set it free
It was yours but now no longer
And it’s time you said goodbye
Nothing like it lasts forever
Let it go and let it rise
Just take a moment and close your eyes
Watch the world stop spinning round
Everything just frozen in time
But you can’t block out the sound
Take a step without the caution
Although it takes a little faith
Keep your eyes on the horizon
And your mind fixed on the way
Take your time enjoy the mourning
Look away and then it’s gone
A little rest but then it’s over
And you must be moving on
Just take a moment and close your eyes
Watch the world stop spinning round
Everything just frozen in time
But you can’t block out the sound
Though the journey seemed unending
Now you wish it didn’t end
But this doesn’t mean it’s over
Another chapter now begins
Just take a moment and close your eyes
Watch the world stop spinning round
Everything just frozen in time
But you can’t block out the sound
Take a picture of this memory
Let the fragrance linger long
Hold on tightly for a little while
And then the moment will be gone
